Cadet honored with Manufacturing Excellence Award! Cadet was recently honored with the Association of Washington Businesses award for Operational Excellence in Manufacturing. Eleven manufacturing companies from throughout the state were honored on September 22nd for their contributions to the state’s economy, and eight others were recognized for operational excellence, innovation and their commitment to green manufacturing.

Cadet’s commitment to the lean manufacturing philosophy that considers the expenditure of resources for any goal other than the creation of value for the end customer to be wasteful, and thus a target for elimination, was the driver behind our success and recognition. I’m installing a new ductless heat pump system. Do I need to augment with Zonal Electric Heaters?

Ductless heat pumps, sometimes called a “mini-split”, consist of an outside compressor unit and one or more inside “heads” that deliver heated or cooled air to a room or rooms.  One compressor can control multiple heads and therefore provide a zonal heating alternative to “central” air systems.   While these systems are popular, they likely will require augmentation with zonal electric heaters.... US Census finds Electric heated homes on the rise.

A recent news from the 2009 US Census data on new single and multi-family homes states that the share of homes using electricity as a heating fuel saw an increase. The average single family home size also decreased: the average single-family house completed in 2009 was 2438 square feet, compared to 2519 square feet in 2008.

Tighter envelopes for homes also require less overall wattage/BTUs for heating. Find out more recent statistics here.

EVENTS:

Cadet recently had the opportunity to host 20+ international business students from Platt University.

These talented students came from various regions of China and competed intensely for the chance to intern with Platt for the summer. While at Cadet, they heard top-level Executives talk about such things as finance, corporate structure, MIS, and toured our LEAN manufacturing facility. 

A question and answer session turned into an open and insightful discussion about the global business environment and what the future for global heating may look like.  Cadet would like to thank both Platt University and the Students that spent the day with us for a shared learning experience.
