SPOTLIGHT ON MANUFACTURING
Two years ago Cadet realized we had a problem: we were literally out of room when it came to storing product for our peak heat season, which limited our ability to pre-build product based on historical customer demand.
Constructing more warehouse space was a costly option, and didn’t take advantage of our national distribution needs.
We ultimately located a third party warehouse in McHenry, Illinois with ample space and room to grow, that allows us to easily ship to our Midwest customers.
Through diligent logistical planning, we’ve been stocking this facility for the past two heat seasons. Director of Manufacturing Frank Twardoch states, “The benefits have surpassed our expectations: it has been an incredible aid in level loading the plant, practically eliminating overtime.” Our efficiencies have improved, as well as our quality. By level loading with year round production, we have time available to Lean train our personnel and make the type of continual improvements that are vital to our success for US assembly.
